Geogrid China: Biaxial, Uniaxial and Fiberglass Geogrid
Most of the geogrid sold under the label “China geogrid” comes from a trading desk, not from the line that made the roll. We run our own steel-plastic and fiberglass lines in Tai'an, Shandong, and this page is the plain version of what comes off them — four product families, the real tensile grades, the standards we test against, and the numbers that decide your quote.
Start with the product that matches your job, not the biggest box. Biaxial for road base and soft soil, uniaxial for walls and steep slopes, fiberglass when the problem is reflective cracking in asphalt. Every grade below is tested to ASTM D6637 or the Chinese equivalent, and the price range is what the market actually pays at the volume you would order.
Four geogrid families, one factory
Same plant, same test lab, four very different jobs. Prices are reference ranges per square metre — the final figure depends on grade, aperture, roll width and order volume.

These are the numbers that get argued about in design review. Match the standard named on your drawing against the last column before you order.
| Product | Type | Tensile strength | Mesh / aperture | Roll width | Standard | Reference price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Steel-Plastic Biaxial Geogrid | Steel-plastic, HDPE coated | 30–150 kN/m | 12.7 / 25.4 / 38.1 mm | 1.0–3.0 m, custom widths | ASTM D6637, GB/T 19274 | USD 0.90 – 3.00 |
| Steel-Plastic Uniaxial Geogrid | Steel-plastic, HDPE coated | 50–300 kN/m | Custom, 100 mm and above | 1.0–2.0 m | ASTM D6637, GB/T 19274 | USD 1.00 – 3.20 |
| Fiberglass Geogrid | Fiberglass, bitumen or polymer coated | 30–100 kN/m, elongation ≤ 4% | 12.7 / 25.4 mm | 1.0–2.0 m | ASTM D6637, JTG E50 | USD 0.50 – 1.50 |
| Self-Adhesive Fiberglass Geogrid | Fiberglass with pressure-sensitive backing | 30–80 kN/m, elongation ≤ 4% | 12.7 / 25.4 mm | 1.0–2.0 m | ASTM D6637, JTG E50 | USD 0.80 – 2.00 |
Which grade belongs in your design
Six jobs we are asked about most, and the answer we give. If your application is not here, tell us the design load and we will work it back to a grade.
| Application | Use this | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Road base and subgrade reinforcement | Biaxial steel-plastic geogrid | Strength in two directions spreads load into the aggregate instead of rutting under the wheel path. |
| MSE retaining walls and steep slopes | Uniaxial steel-plastic geogrid | One-direction strength from 50 to 300 kN/m, with the creep resistance a long-term load needs. |
| Asphalt overlay and reflective cracking | Fiberglass geogrid | High modulus and elongation under 4%, so the grid arrests the crack before it reaches the surface. |
| Soft soil foundation treatment | Biaxial geogrid with wide aperture | Larger cells lock into the fill and bridge the weak layer without pumping. |
| Bridge decks and waterproofing | Fiberglass geogrid | Bitumen or polymer coating bonds into both the asphalt and the membrane layer. |
| Municipal road repair and patching | Self-adhesive fiberglass geogrid | Pressure-sensitive backing cuts tack coat use and speeds up overnight work. |
